Post Animal
Pleasant trippy pop rock from Chicago with prog elements (they can seque effortlessly into Yes-style guitar riffs). Good vocals sometimes get swallowed by the mix, but the effect is good. Retro feel, predominantly 1970's. Check out "Dirtpicker" and "Goggles." Joe Keery is a sometimes member. Click here for Apple Music playlist

MØ
Disposable electronic pop that does all the usual verse-chorus-verse stuff, and lyrics are about what you'd expect. Not afraid of minor chords. Nice vocals. Decently produced.

Sour Widows
Closely intertwining jangly guitars and harmonic voices are the primary features of this well crafted alternative rock. One album out. From San Francisco.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre
Psychedelic indie rock with great grooves and a distinct 1960's vibe. They've been around for a while. Click here for Apple Music playlist

Between the Buried and Me
Virtuosic metal with oodles of tasty little breaks and refreshing 7th and 11th chords sprinkled around. Check out "Things We Tell Ourselves in the Dark" and "Absent Thereafter." Vocals run the gamut from growling to soaring harmonies. Songs are LONG. Sound like they're from Norway but they are North Carolinians!

Fruit Bats
Very listenable indie folk-pop solo project of Eric D. Johnson. Mostly acoustic instruments. Decent vocals.

Mason Jennings
Impossible not to like indie folk-rock. Friendly, humorous troubadour vibe. Great lyrics and melodies. Though each songs is instantly welcome in your ears, you might not be adding a lot of them to your steady rotation. Check out "Fighter Girl" and "Machines." Click here for Apple Music playlist

Spencer LaJoye
They are a talented singer/songwriter but it's sort of too much. Is it possible to be too expressive? Listen and if you disagree let us know.

Midnight Til Morning
Band created on a Netflix show! ("Building the Band"). It may be just us, but this kind of trembly voiced, fake earnest, overly glossy boy band pop is a waste of everyone's time including the band that created it. This what Netflix thinks we want? No thank you. Click here for Apple Music playlist

Wallows
Simple, nonchalant, melodic indie pop. No guitar solos (we approve). Click here for Apple Music playlist

PVRIS
It's pronounced "Paris," dummies! Solo project. Well crafted heavy-ish electronic pop-rock. They/them.

When Chai Met Toast
Very poppy, fairly cheesy, relentlessly upbeat acoustic guitar based songs. Nice vocals.

Pradabagshawty
We think he might be recycling rap rhythms, but despite that still decent rapid-fire droning street rap.
