British indie rock band that produce plodding (but not in a bad way) and occasional uptempo soundscapes with sparse singing. Definitely original and carefully crafted. Many albums - they've been playing for over 20 years. Pick one of their grooves and add it to one of your mixes. Perhaps "Kids Will be Skeletons," "Lion Rumpus" or "Ritchie Sacramento."

Singer/songwriter Sammy Rae is a peppy revelation, full of panache and good humor. The Friends are as good of a backing band as she could ask for. Great compositions. Well produced. One album out.
